In State of Decay 2, the Hearts of the Plague are very important targets to destroy. Doing so will help you reach different cities and progress through the game. For each Plague Heart destroyed the others will become tougher to swallow, empowering themselves. They are usually found inside buildings and therefore they are not very easy to find, although the map can come to your aid, marking them with a red skull icon. In fact, by helping other communities you can discover the exact point where they are located. It will also be necessary to decide wisely which objectives to destroy.
To find the Hearts of the Plague you will have to look for areas with many red-eyed zombies, they are usually a good indicator for the presence of the Hearts. Furthermore, as already mentioned before, once discovered, they will be indicated by a red skull icon.
To destroy them you will not have to use sidearms: bombs will be much more reliable in this task. In fact, melee weapons will do much less damage than bombs. Among other things, using contact weapons will take a lot of your stamina and when the zombies will launch themselves on you to protect the Heart they will easily overwhelm you. The best strategy is to approach with a vehicle and start playing when you are still outside, attracting zombies. By taking them out as a group, you will stock up on the Blood of the Plague and then head to the Heart.
With most of the zombies gone, you can easily target the Heart of the Plague with explosives, causing it a lot of damage. Molotov cocktails or soda bombs will be another good way to do good damage to the Heart of the Plague.
