Demon's Souls - Complete Solution

    Demon's Souls - Complete Solution

With this Demon's Souls guide you will be able to get all five Pure White and Pure Black Environmental Trend Events as well as both Pure White and Pure Black Character Trend Events in one play session.

    Character creation

Pick a Noble because it's the easiest way to get through Area 1-1.
You will have the choice between a male and a female character.
The second level up slightly faster because she can wear the Silver Bracelet which grants an extra 20% more souls when defeating enemies. Some armor sets can be worn by a particular gender. If you want to try them all, you should have 2 different sex characters.

You will start with the Scented Ring which regenerates your MP gradually.
The Soul Arrow spell costs 5 MP to cast and deals decent damage.

First of all you need to know that tapping the right stick automatically blocks the target. Your spell will then be cast on the target. If this moves, there is a high chance of missing it. So practice aligning the target and figuring out when is the best time to release the spells.
Automatic blocking is only possible when you are close to an enemy. This is generally not a good idea for low HP wizards. Without this, your spell will be cast in the direction you are looking at.

Most enemies in Area 1-1 can be killed with 1 or 2 Soul Arrow hits. If you run out of MP, find a safe place: just take a break and wait for the magic points to fully recharge.

There are some Soldier Slaves at the starting area near the large gate that led to the first Boss, Phalanx. You need to find a way to open it.
On the right and on the left there are 2 doors which can be opened from the opposite side. Take the left path and kill the enemies near the well.

    Bonus section
The next time you arrive in this area a new body will appear with the Worn Armor set and a Jade Fork. You can do this by loading the game and there is no need to leave the game. The second item can be given to Stockpile Thomas in the Nexus in exchange for a Herculean Force Ring. You will need to select the Talk option and finish his conversation in order to trigger this event.

Note: If you have a female Barbarian you can wear the Worn Out set.

Go inside the building. There will be some Slave Soldiers ready to ambush you. You will have to go up to the top. A soldier will throw a boulder at you which will fall into the area below revealing a bastard sword.
In the upper area you will find a Blue Eyes Knight and some soldiers. Defeat them first and then focus on the Knight. There will then be a section where there will be some broken walls that you can jump to get a Crossbow of Light and some bolts. It is not very useful in comparison to the bow.
Cerulean-eyed enemies can be easily defeated using Soul Arrows. The fog will lead you to the next area, but first enter the building next to the Knight. You will see a ladder full of Slave Soldiers, defeat them and go up. You will come to a terrace with two chains: destroy them both. Once you get to the bottom of the stairwell, open the door to unlock a shortcut. You will find a corpse with a ring tight on it, pick it up. It increases your maximum HP by 40%.

On the other side of the upper region is a place guarded by a red-eyed Knight. Normally, it is only possible to kill him with his soul at least at level 30.
However, I strongly recommend that you kill him with a Noble Soul Level 1.

The way to kill him is very simple. In the area of the stairs where you unlocked the link, initially clear it of enemies. There are 2 barrels at the top, make sure they are intact. Then kill the opponents in the highest area before looking for the red-eyed knight. Once it moves close to you, it will start chasing you. Lure him to the stair area. If he falls behind, stop and wait for him. Go through the 2 barrels very carefully and then stand on the next wooden platform in front of the barrels at 45 degrees. The red-eyed Knight will try to get past them and the AI will tell him to walk straight towards you. Collect 2000+ souls and get his loot in the lower region. Occasionally, the AI is able to navigate through the barrels safely and if so he will fall to the bottom. But the problem is that the height won't kill him. Then you'll have to go all the way down the road and try to lure him into the pit. Doing this is the same as the barrel method. Just try to make him walk straight into the pit as he tries to come straight at you.

You are doing all this because you need souls to buy a Short Lance from Dregling in 1-1. After killing the 1-1 Boss, he will move to 1-2. So you better do it now.

Return to the upper region. Enter the Mist behind the Blue Eyes Knight. Look around and you can see Ostrava in the Golden Armor. You can jump to his post but don't do it right away. First kill all the enemies in the area. You will also find the trader Dregling, buy a Short Lance for 1500 souls.

Continue along the path and you will find yourself in front of a wooden structure that you can climb. Kill the soldiers with the crossbow and the Blue Eyes Knight. Now head to the bottom and clear the area to see Ostrava. The Slave Soldiers are unlikely to kill her, while the Knight has a good chance of succeeding. We advise you to eliminate all enemies before saving him. He will give you a brass telescope for helping him. If you then enter the Nexus you will see him sitting on a beam near the stone arch between world 1 and world 5.

After saving Ostrava, escort him around and protect him. Go back to where you first saw it. You will see a place that you can climb and then jump down. Collect the Thief's Ring. This is probably the most important of all, since you will be wearing it most of the time.

Head to the wooden building and climb to the top. There is a rolling stone set as a trap at the top. If you attack it with a weapon from the side you can kill nearby enemies. Be careful not to get hurt by the boulder. Follow the path and turn right. If you continue straight ahead you will find yourself in front of a Red Dragon patrolling the area. If you go left instead you will find two Dragons guarding some objects. We recommend that you leave them and get them later.

Return to the side of the castle where the Red Dragon is on guard. First of all you have to get rid of most of the soldiers, you can lure them and take them one at a time. Once most of them have been eliminated, it's time to strike. To shoot you need to make sure that your equipped weight is 50% or less of the total that can be equipped. Press and hold 'X' or 'O' depending on the game code for the Sprint. This will suck you out of the stamina.

Once through, enter the building and activate the button to open the Great Door below. Make your way to the bottom of the stairwell to open a gate that is right next to the big one. At this point, you should go back to the Nexus and download any excess items you have collected. The great gate is now covered in fog. Equip the fire bomb as one of the quick slots. Wait for your MPs to fully charge.

Enter the fog to fight the first Boss, Phalanx.

Phalanx is basically harmless, but it has 40 mini-Phalanx to protect it. Their spears can be deadly if they don't block with the shield. Their protection will protect them from physical harm. Attacking them from the front won't do, but attacking them from behind is useful. They are however weak against fires. It is possible to throw some Fire Bombs to damage many when they are together. Magic can also kill them, but you run the risk of running out of MP by doing so. Once enough of them are defeated, Phalanx will expose a part of his soft body. Attack her until she dies.

Walk up to the stone arch and you will collect the strong Demon Soul. Go back to the Nexus and talk to the virgin in black. He will tell you to go talk to the Monumental: you will find it in the upper area. He will be sitting on the floor next to the dead near a lighted candle. After talking to him, you can talk to the virgin to increase your stats.

At this point you will have access to 1-2, 2-1, 3-1, 4-1 and 5-1. You will be free to tackle them in any order you prefer.

Now is the time to take a look at theequipment. The Noble's starting stats are Str 9, Dex 12, Magic 13, Faith 12.

    Temporary equipment:
    - Cloth shield (Ex 11)
    - Short spear (Str 11, Dex 10)
    - Longbow (Str 15, Dex 12)

    Ultimate Equipment:
    - Winged Lance (Str 14, Dex 12)
    - Violet Flame Shield (Ex 22)
    - Compound longbow (Str 22, Dex 12)
    - Talisman of the beast (Sorcerer 4, Magic 18, Faith 18)

Purchase a cloth shield from the Nexus Blacksmith for 2000 souls. You should have already bought the weapon from the merchant Dregling in 1-1. If you need more souls, you can go back and defeat more red-eyed Knights; same if you are too low level to equip items. Both the Winged Spear and the Violet Flame Shield can be released by the Red-Eyed Knight albeit with low chances.

Let's start with the Winged Spear.
It is quite unlikely to get it from the Red Eyed Knight with Luck 8. You can get it from one of the dead bodies in 1-2. Defeating the mini-Phalanx is quite simple for a Noble. Block their shield attacks and launch Soul Arrow to kill them.

The next point is the Red Dragon. To kill him you will need a bow. There are various ways to get a bow:
    1) Longbow (Str 15, Dex 12)
You can buy it from Blige the grave robber in the Shrine of Storms in 4-1 for 3000 souls. You will need a Copper Key to open his cell. To find it go to the stone arch, go up the stairs and you will see two skeletons archers, look in the right wing. As with Blige, enter the hole somewhere in the area where you defeated Vanguar (the tutorial boss). Enter the passage inside the hole, go straight to find Blige locked in his cell.
    2) Short compound bow (Str 18, Dex 10)
After meeting the mini-Phalanx take the stairs to the lower section and cross the passage to reach the second tower. You will find the arch on a body on the top of this building.
    3) Crossbow of light (Ex 10)
In 1-1 in the highest region where you found a Blue Eyed Knight you will see a hole in the castle wall: if you enter it, you can find a body wearing a Crossbow of Light. Remember that this one does not have a targeting system, so if you want to use it to kill the Red Dragon you will have to do some practice first.

Passing the first tower is relatively simple. Stop running as soon as the creature has breathed fire. Climb to the top of the first tower. Here you will have a chance to hit it without any problems. As the arrows won't cause much damage, you'll need at least 150 of them but stock up to make sure you don't run out of them.

After killing the Red Dragon, search the body along the way for a Winged Spear.

Go back to the dragon's nest in 1-1, the dragon will have reappeared. However, you can safely take a Violet Flame Shield from one of the bodies. You can ignore the blue one and come back to defeat it later.

At this point you will need a bit of experience to level up and be able to equip the Shield you just received.

Next, we will need to take a compound Longbow (Str 22, Dex 12) in 4-1.
Take the stone arch for 4-1. These silver skeletons are really tough. After finding you they will roll around you and then unleash a quick series of attacks. You can wear a Thief's Ring to decrease the chances of them spotting you. Use the arrows to defeat them. After that you will find a two-katana skeleton guarding a Crescent Falcihon +1 in the starting area. Go to the place where you killed the first silver skeleton. You can attach it to two katanas without damage from this location. Once killed, head towards him to find the +1 Crescent Falchion.
Please note: these monsters always guard something important.

The compound longbow is on a body next to the lone Silver Skeleton at the top of the tower. Getting there is tricky as you will have to fight some Skeletons of the same type in narrow passages. If you have trouble with the fights, upgrade your Violet Flame Shield and Winged Spear.

The next step is to develop it up to the +5 sticky compound Longbow. Note that it is not convenient to upgrade it gradually since, for example, a Longbow compound +3 is better than its sticky equivalent +3. You should collect the necessary Spider Stones and bring it up to +5.
