Oninaki - Complete Guide to Daemons - Part 1

In Oninaki the Daemons are loyal entities entrusted to the most competent Watchers, and Kagachi is no exception. The title protagonist can rely on 10 (+1) different Daemons, and therefore more than ten fighting styles very different from each other, each with its strengths and weaknesses.

The third creature of Tokyo RPG Factory did not fully satisfy us in the review, selecting and saving from Oninaki these creatures who, once dead, did not go further but remained anchored beyond the veil in the service of the Watchers thanks to their iron will. The variety proposed by the title and the great differences of each single Daemon make Oninaki an unusual JRPG, and therefore very respectable.

Oninaki - Complete Guide to Daemons - Part 1

In this guide, which aims to be as complete as possible, we will review the first 5 Daemons that you can find in the game with a brief introduction to each of them and then continue with a list made up of several fundamental points as:

    1. Il place, where is the Daemon in question and in which chapter that composes Oninaki.
    2. Le statistics favorites of each Daemon.
    3. La soulstone frequency, or how quickly it is possible to empower our allies. Soulstones are items dropped by enemies at random that unlock the abilities of Daemons. The more skills that are unlocked, the more the Daemon will increase in rank and power.
    4. Their peculiarities, that is, what function the key usually intended for jumping or dodging has in each case.
    5. La gimmick, what Daemons excel at and what they have more than other companions.
    6. Le better moves, the one or those attacks that have proved most effective during the game. The last move will always be the final one.
    7. Le best soulstone for each Daemon, or those stones that can be embedded in weapons to add various types of effects.
    8. Finally, theactual utility against bosses, which are a different kettle of fish than common enemies. Some, in fact, are more predisposed to fighting with minor Fallen, while others demonstrate their effectiveness even against the bosses of the title.

Note: the "soulstone frequency" refers to the drop speed with which to obtain the stones needed to level up the Daemons and acquire new skills. This frequency is absolutely relative and personal: with some Daemons it turned out to be faster, with others slower. Although in Oninaki the drop rate is random and the same for all creatures, it is still being studied. The cadence can be increased with the shadestone "soulstone drop”And progressively with the various“ pluses ”(+) from the alchemist in Deto.

Without getting lost in other talk let's start with the first Daemon that you have the possibility to personify:

Oninaki - Complete Guide to Daemons - Part 1

    Aisha

How do you say? First love is never forgotten. Aisha is a swordswoman, and the former princess of a distant kingdom. The petals surrounding the artwork are red-orange and he is the Daemon closest to Kagachi, the one with whom the Watcher begins his journey in Oninaki. Aisha is a great first Daemon, and if she wants to go further, she is one of the best in the game. Going even further we could say that it is only possible to complete the game with her. Through Aisha, Kagachi will be able to use one katana and quickly dodge enemy attacks through a dash. It is definitely a balanced Daemon that it is based on speed of basic hits and above all on versatility, from the possibility of regenerating with the hits inflicted (Shadeblink Pierce) to that of instantly kill enemies (when manifested).

The move with which he debuts, Gale Slash, allows you to cover medium distances in no time and will be useful from the beginning to the end of the adventure, to which are added other equally useful skills, such as Tranquil Mind, attack to be charged with great damage ( especially counting that it is the second skill that you acquire) up to her strongest ability, Gods Above, which refers to closure when you defeat a boss with her. Ideal Soulstones further enhance basic attacks and skill chaining.

    • Location: Available from the start
    • Better statistics: Speed, Attack
    • Soulstone speed: Fast
    • Peculiarities: Dodging
    • Gimmick: Affinity
    • Better moves: Shadeblink Pierce, Gods Above
    • Best soulstone: Kill, Basic Attack, Skill Attack, Relentless Warrior
    • Utility boss: High

Oninaki - Complete Guide to Daemons - Part 1

    Zaav

Zaav is the second Daemon that Kagachi encounters on his way and is a knight who wields one lancia. Former member of the Blood Guard in defense of the "queen" of Oninaki's Inner Kingdom, unlike Aisha with Zaav it is possible to jump and attack even in jump. Jumping is never as effective as dodging to avoid attacks, but the yellow-petaled Daemon has an ace up his sleeve: the fact that attacking with the leaping spear allows Kagachi to pierce the enemy by coming out the other side. In other words, invincibility frame. Zaav focuses on critical hit, with wide-ranging attacks like Impale and Windmill, which sees Zaav use his spear as a shield and then throw himself on enemies. It is therefore an excellent Daemon to support the others, given his innate talent for increasing stats as attack and defense using skills (to be encouraged with soul stones).

    • Location: Roam Meadows, chapter 1-1
    • Better statistics: HP, Defense
    • Soulstone speed: Average
    • Peculiarities: Jump
    • Gimmick: Critical Hits, Stats Increase
    • Better moves: Impale, Windmill, Avalon
    • Best soulstone: Skill Attack, Crit Chance, Buff Chance, Buff Duration, Masochist
    • Utility boss: Medium-High

Oninaki - Complete Guide to Daemons - Part 1

    Morning

Dia is the third Daemon on appeal. Surrounded by green petals, she looks like a girl whose young age must not be misleading: a stormy with her father and the survivor syndrome have tempered her a lot and in fact possesses two unique weapons, a crossbow and a pistol, with which to face the Fallen that haunt the kingdom. Dia is therefore a Daemon who focuses on hitting enemies from long range, unlike the companions we have already reviewed, but which in melee becomes fertile ground for enemies. Its main feature is the lock-on, that is, aiming at monsters and releasing the shot to its full potential when the eye turns green. Her jump mechanic is instead a glide, a glide that allows her to stay in the air for a few more seconds and attack from above.

Its usefulness is doubted by the fact that it does not allow to dodge the blow effectively: there are few reasons to prefer Dia to other Daemons, especially by continuing in the game, because its validity is refuted by the fact that to aim the enemy one must load the shot and, therefore, expose yourself; It still fills a niche that few Daemons in this game have. It turned out, in the end, one of the hardest Daemons to train in Oninaki, but it is possible to help her with stones that make it less visible, durable and punitive towards small or large enemies.

    • Location: Sook Fens, 1-2
    • Favorite statistic: It is balanced
    • Soulstone speed: Slow
    • Peculiarities: Jump (glide)
    • Gimmick: Lock-on
    • Better moves: Constellation, Dusk, Black and White
    • Best soulstone: Skill Attack, Slayer, Defense, Muddle Resistance, Stealth
    • Utility boss: Low-Medium

Oninaki - Complete Guide to Daemons - Part 1

    Wil

Fourth Blue Petal Daemon, Wil was a member of a nomadic clan who became the most devastating Daemon of the lot. Her mighty ax makes him one if not the most offensive Daemon - but his shots go uploaded, and charging the shot means remaining still and open to the attacks of others. Wil is generally a slow Daemon who bears fruit late and asks to absorb the blows, so much so that he can neither jump nor dodge, but only parry the blow with the ax. His actual contribution against bosses is therefore seriously questioned, as well as for large-sized enemies, which he is capable of making stagger very often. It is a risky Daemon, as it increases its attack and defense depending on how much HP remains. Soulstones can further enhance her abilities against small or large Fallen while the Stealth stone will allow for a more carefree shot loading. Wil is fun to play, but he's not part of the Oninaki dream team.

    • Location: The Sunken Ruins, 1-3
    • Better statistics: Attack
    • Soulstone speed: Medium / Slow
    • Peculiarities: Parade
    • Gimmick: Loading shots
    • Better moves: Calamity, Desperado, Xenocide
    • Best soulstone: Stealth, Basic Attack, Skill Attack, Slayer
    • Utility boss: Low

    Izana

Izana is the fifth Daemon, legacy of a dear friend of Kagachi. Izana was a Watcher too, before she perished and became one spirit wielding a scythe. This purple petalled girl has several arrows to her bow, including the ability to dodge through the teleportation is one of the few attacks capable of poisoning the enemy, Serial. Other characteristics of it consist in ringing critical hitting enemies from behind with the scythe and showing off an attack in particular, Reaper, capable of killing an enemy in one fell swoop (but not a boss). And a little' the counterpart and a good replacement for Aisha, which manages to hit multiple enemies at once thanks to the weapon she holds but which forces her to move little and be slightly dependent on skills. Among the best Daemons in the game, little but sure, which has a defensive ability, being able to become invisible after taking care to reposition itself on the battlefield, and offensive, resetting the manifestation time when defeating an enemy or using incense (!). Chosen soulstones increase the chance for Reaper to hit, and increase the chance or damage of crit and debuffs.

    • Location: It is added throughout history
    • Favorite statistic: Attack
    • Soulstone speed: Average
    • Peculiarities: Teleport (dodge)
    • Gimmick: Critical Hits, Manifestation, Poison
    • Better moves: Reaper, Nemesis
    • Best soulstone: Kill, Crit Chance, Debuff Chance, Debuff Attack
    • Utility boss: High
