According to NPD data released today, PlayStation 5 released on November 12 achieved the highest monthly and dollar unit sales for video game hardware in the United States. The records were previously held by the PlayStation 4, released in November 2013.

Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, launched on 10 November, have had fewer sales than their Xbox One predecessor released in November 2013.

Both new consoles launched during the COVID-19 pandemic and their stocks continue to be insufficient around the world as all the available offer continues to run out. Reservations made now risk being paid out around March / April and the small restocks that are put on online stores run out within a few minutes.

As announced yesterday, Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console in November with 1,35 million units sold due to high demand and wide supply. Definitely a big hit for Nintendo, which continues to prove how good it did with the Switch after the Wii U debacle.
