    Metal Gear Solid… real!

The old adage according to which reality sometimes exceeds fantasy is becoming more and more relevant: a twenty-nine year old Englishman uses in real life a replica of the bionic limb of the protagonist of Metal Gear Solid, and he certainly doesn't do it with cosplay intent. Daniel Melville, without his right hand since birth, has in fact been wearing a bionic Hero Arm for over three years, and is the first user of the Metal Gear Solid 'model'.

Konami partnered with award-winning prosthetic company Open Bionics to make the Metal Gear Solid design of the multi-grip bionic arm “Hero Arm“, inspired by Venom snake, protagonist of the infamous Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain videogame. As you will remember, this character loses his arm following an explosion and uses an iconic red and black hi-tech prosthesis, just like the one you can admire in these photos.

The Bionic Arm Hero Arm is a product of the highest robotic engineering that is improving the lives of hundreds of people without upper limbs. Open Bionics uses 3D printing and scanning, among other things, to tailor each Hero Arm, which can be customized with special magnetic covers.

All therefore very satisfied with such a sensational achievement that until a few years ago it could seem like science fiction. Konami and Open Bionics said, “We are thrilled to see Venom Snake's iconic bionic limb design come to life in the real world in a technology product that is improving the quality of life for those who have lost their upper limbs. It is pure joy to see this piece of art and engineering having a positive impact on the lives of many people. "

And among other things, it seems, the actual Metal Gear Solid model… is one of the most requested.
