Gwent, a guide to terms to remember


    Gwent it is still in open Beta and everyone who is using it thinks the game is already pretty good at this stage. Being already playable, but at the same time a little different from the card games we are all used to, it will be good to review the most used terms within the game. Once you have read this guide Gwent it will have no more secrets for you.

    • Ally - One unit on your side of the table (except Spies)
    • Ambush - A card played face down that is revealed only when certain conditions are met
    • Armor - Absorbs a certain amount of damage done to a Unit
    • Ban - Removes the selected card from the game
    • Bond - Activate this ability whenever a copy of this Unit is played from the same side
    • Boost - Increase the Power of a card
    • Courageous - Activate this ability if your opponent is winning the current round
    • clash - Activate this ability only if no player has passed the turn yet
    • Consume - Destroy a card (or banish it, if it's in the Graveyard) and increase the power of the Unit that activated Consume with the Power of the Consumed Unit
    • Countdown - Reduces a countdown whenever certain conditions are met. When zero is reached, the default Skill is activated. Once the Countdown is reset, the Unit leaves the battlefield
    • Fresh Troops X - When a Unit with the Fresh Troops Skill is played alongside this Unit, activate the Skill X times
    • It hurts - Reduces the Power of a Unit
    • Damaged - The Power of a Damaged Unit is less than its base Power
    • Last wish - Activate this ability when the card is moved to the Graveyard
    • Downgrade - Convert the card to Silver (or Bronze, if Bronze was the original color of the card)
    • Array - Activate this ability when a Unit is set up on the battlefield
    • Destroy - Move the card to the Graveyard
    • Discard - Move the card to the Graveyard from the Hand or the battlefield
    • Damned - Unit: Banned when destroyed; Special Cards: Banish after activating the card's ability (if it has any)
    • Fishing - Move the top card of the Deck to your Hand
    • Effort - Performs a certain action for each card hit by a previous ability
    • Enemy - One Unit on the field of your opponent (except Spies)
    • Fresh troops - Activate this ability when this Unit is played in a space adjacent to a Unit with the Fresh Troops ability
    • you bet - Guess if the Bronze or Silver card on top of your opponent's Deck has a Power higher or lower than 5. The consequences of winning or losing the bet are specified on the card
    • Healing - Return a damaged Unit to its original Power
    • The highest - The Unity with the highest Power. Ties are resolved randomly
    • Block - Disable a card's abilities. Also disable and reveal ambushes
    • The shortest - The Unity with the lowest Power. Ties are resolved randomly
    • Mulligan - Exchange a certain number of cards in your Hand for cards from your Deck including Gold (unless indicated otherwise)
    • Order Process - Activate this ability when you play your Leader Card (but before the Leader ability resolves)
    • Promote - Convert the card to Gold until the end of the turn
    • Reload X - When a Unit with the Reload ability is played alongside this Unit, activate that ability X times
    • Reloaded - Activate this ability when the Unit is played alongside Units with the Reload ability
    • Retaliation - Activate this ability when a Unit is Damaged but not Destroyed.
    • Reset - Reset the Unit to its base Power
    • Resilient - A Resilient Unit remains on the field at the end of the Round (only for 1 round)
    • Resistant - A Resistant Unit is Immune to the specified Weather effect
    • Resurrect - Play a card from the Graveyard
    • Reveal - Turn over one or more cards of your Hand, showing it / and to all players
    • Revealed - A card has been revealed, and it is shown to both players
    • End of Round - Activate this ability at the end of the turn
    • Shield - Protect a Unit from the next Power reduction effect
    • Spawn - Add a card to the game and play it
    • Spring - Reveal an Ambush card and activate its ability
    • To spy - A Unit is Spying when it is placed on the opposite side of the battlefield to that of the player who played it
    • Strengthens - Increases the base Power by one Unit
    • Stubborn - This card cannot be returned to Hand in any way
    • Evokes - Play the specified cards from your Deck
    • timer –Reduces the Timer by 1 each turn while this Unit is on the field. Activate this ability when you reach level 8 (at the beginning or end of the turn). Reset the timer when the unit leaves the field
    • Transform - Convert to a different card
    • Trio - Activate this ability when 3 Unlocked Copies of this Unit are present in the same Row
    • Start of Turn - This card's ability activates at the start of its owner's turn
    • Veteran - Activate this ability at the start of turns 2 and 3 when this card is in the Hand, Deck or Graveyard
    • Weaken - Decreases a card's base Power
