Best free calculator apps for android

Don't waste money on a physical calculator when your phone can do it for free! Here are the best free calculator apps for Android.

Our math teachers warned us that we wouldn't have a calculator wherever we went. But now we have smartphones with us wherever we go, with access to hundreds of calculator apps.

Since there are so many options, it can be difficult to find the right one for your needs. Today we are going to break down the best free calculator apps for Android.

Best free calculator apps for android

Calculator (by Google)

This is your simplest and safest bet. Google offers a basic, but well-designed app that will handle basic math tasks, but not much else. It calculates in real time, so you don't even have to hit the equal button.

You can get some more complex functions by swiping from the right side, but it's still a pretty limited set. The only other important feature is that you can tap at the top of the screen to reveal a three-dot menu that lets you change decimals to fractions, and that's it. There is no story or charts.

It's totally free and has no ads, so it gets the job done.

Calculator ++

If Google Calculator is a little too simple for you, try Calculator ++. This app has both one mode simple that one gives engineer . It supports a wide variety of functions, a history of everything you've calculated, and can even create graphs.

A small feature are the sliding buttons. Swipe up on a button to activate the option at the top and swipe down to activate the option at the bottom. It is also customizable, with several theme options available. Along with a home screen widget, it includes a floating window mode.

This app contains ads, but they are only displayed on side pages like Chronology , not on the main calculation page.

ClevCalc

ClevCalc is actually a bunch of calculators all in one. Not only does it have the basics like a currency and unit converter, but it also has everything from a fuel cost calculator to an ovulation calculator.

You can choose between different themes, all inspired by Material Design. Although the app contains ads, you can remove them via an in-app purchase.

Calculator (by TricolorCat)

Here is a choice called simply Calculator. This is best for people who are particular about their keyboard because it has three different layout styles: Standard , Elegant ed ergonomic .

It also features loads of different color options and the option to add or remove memory buttons. Besides that, you can change how the decimals are displayed (1,5 or 1,5) and view the history by swiping down from the top. It's super simple, but also more customizable than most basic calculator apps.

The app has a banner ad at the bottom, but you can purchase the Pro version to remove it.

CalcTastic scientific calculator

This app is for anyone who needs more scientific calculation options. It also has a basic calculator, but the emphasis is on the scientific part. You can work on complex problems as you please, but it cannot graph anything.

It's well customizable too, with some classic scientific calculator themes and a clear theme. If you upgrade to the Pro version, you get seven more themes, complex numbers in polar form, horizontal support, and a programmer's calculator.

RealCalc scientific calculator

Another good scientific calculator is the popular RealCalc. It is designed to look like the traditional portable scientific calculators you used in school.

RealCalc has all the standard scientific functions you will need. It also supports chronology, memories, unit conversions and constants. Binary, octal and hexadecimal calculations also work well.

The app offers two types of calculator, traditional and reverse Polish notation (RPN). When using the traditional type, be sure to place parentheses around the parts of the equation to preserve the calculation order. It's different from the other calculators listed above - you can't just type the equation as it appears.

You can also choose from a number of display styles and formats to customize the look of the app.

The free version offers many useful features that may be enough for your purposes. If you want more features, such as fractions, degrees / minutes / seconds, customizable conversions and constants, landscape mode and a 12-digit display, you can buy RealCalc Plus.

CALCU

This app finally bears a somewhat original name (even if it is only a shortened version of "calculator"). CALCU has both basic and scientific layouts, a number of elegant themes, and even an option to adjust the font.

It has quick little animations, like swiping down to reveal history or swiping up to reveal more science buttons. There is a banner ad at the top that you can remove via an in-app purchase.

All-in-one calculator

If you just want a calculator, plain and simple, you might be better served by one of the other apps on this list. But if you want an app that not only offers a smooth and cleanly designed calculator, but many other things as well, this is for you.

This app can calculate numbers, but also percentages, equations, shapes, speed, temperature, currency, age and much more. Chances are that everything you need calculated can be calculated with this app.

Desmos Graphing Calculator

For those who want a dedicated graphing calculator app, Desmos Graphing Calculator is for you. There isn't even a basic calculator interface here; it's all about the graphics. The app makes it easy to program and track multiple functions, so use the sliders to adjust them. You can also start with some sample app charts for help.

If you wish, you can create an account to log in and sync your charts. Best of all, there are no ads or in-app purchases.
