How to add music to Instagram videos… even to stories. Spice up your Instagram Stories with some music. One of the easiest ways to spice up an Instagram story or post is to add music. Adding a music track can not only bring a video to life, but it can also help you connect with your Instagram followers by sharing your video with the music you like with them.

Here are the three best ways to add music to Instagram videos and stories.

    1. How to add music to Instagram stories with music stickers

The easiest way to add music to your Instagram Story is to use the special Music sticker, available in the latest versions of the official Instagram app on iOS and Android devices.

    1. Open the Instagram app and tap the icon of camera in the upper left corner to create a new story.
    2. Tap the icon circular to take a photo or record a video as usual.
    3. Tap the icon Wall Stickers from the top menu. That's what a smiley face post-it looks like.
    4. Toccata Music. Instagram Stories using the Music sticker cannot be automatically shared with linked Facebook accounts due to copyright restrictions. You can upload the Instagram story video as a Facebook story, though, by saving the video to your device and then uploading it to Facebook manually from the Facebook app.
    5. Search for the music track you want to use in your Instagram Story. You can tap the circular play icons to preview songs before adding them.
    6. When you've found the song you're looking for, tap the album cover to add it to your story.
    7. Toccata 15 seconds and choose the length of the track for your Story. Track length is limited due to copyright restrictions. Instagram Stories typically last under 15 seconds, so this limitation shouldn't be a problem for many.
    8. Toccata Done.
    9. Drag the white bar to select the part of the song you want to use.
    10. Toccata Done.
    11. Tap the sticker Music to choose a different style.
    12. Pinch the sticker with two fingers to resize and move it.
    13. Add more stickers, gifs and text as usual.
    14. Tap La your story to post your new story on your Instagram account.

    2. Choose the music, then create your Instagram story

The second method of adding music to an Instagram Story also uses the Music sticker, but it allows you to create your own photo or video after choosing the track.

    1. Open the Instagram app on your smart device and start a new Instagram story as usual.
    2. From the bottom menu, tap Music.
    3. Browse the music lists to find the track you want and tap the album cover to add it to your story.
    4. Drag the white bar horizontally to choose the part of the track you want to use.
    5. Tap the icon circular with musical notes inside to take a photo or long press on it to record a video. Since this method allows you to record your video with music playback, it's much easier to sync your content to match the music.
    6. Tap the sticker Music to choose a different sticker style.
    7. Use two fingers to resize the sticker and move it around.
    8. Add other content, such as text and gifs, as usual. Swipe in from the left side of the screen to add a filter to your photo or video.
    9. Tap La your story to post your new story on your Instagram account.

    3. How to add music to an Instagram post in the old style

This third method of adding music to Instagram Stories is like when you used to add songs to videos before the Music Sticker feature was launched. This can also be used when shooting regular post videos.

As this method adds music unofficially, Instagram will automatically scan it for any copyright infringement. If detected, Instagram will simply remove all sound from the entire video. Your account will not be closed and there are no legal consequences.

While it's an old method, it's still effective and can be used to embed music that isn't officially available in the Instagram app. This also removes the time limit for each song.

    1. Open your favorite music app on your device and start playing a song. For this example, we will use Spotify.
    2. Minimize the app with the song still in the background and open Instagram.
    3. Tap the your avatar or the small icon of the camera in the upper left corner to start a new Instagram story.
    4. Long press the record button to record a video. The song you are playing and all other audio will be recorded along with the video.
    5. Keep editing your story as you usually would, adding filters, text, and gifs.
    6. When ready, tap Le your stories to publish it.

While Instagram allows you to crop a video and add filters during the upload process to your main Instagram feed, it doesn't offer any way to add music to it. This means that you will need to add music to your video using another app, save it, then upload this newly edited video to Instagram.

Fortunately, there are a number of free video editing apps available for iOS, Android, and Windows that make adding music to video clips very easy.

    5. Where do I find music for Instagram videos

If you are using the first two methods of adding music to your Instagram Story with the Music sticker, you don't have to worry about finding music as the sticker essentially gives you the entire Spotify song library.

If you're using the third method, or want to add music to an Instagram post, you'll need to find a track to use on your own.

Technically, you can use any song from Spotify, iTunes, or any other music service, but your video may be flagged for copyright infringement. The safest option is to use royalty-free music from one of the many websites available online. They provide free and paid options for using music and are generally open to anyone.
