8 Ways To Fix Instagram Problems If It's Not Working Properly. You can try different troubleshooting methods on Instagram when the app is not working properly. If Instagram isn't working today, there are many potential causes, each with their own troubleshooting method.

The most common steps to fix Instagram issues are to restart the app or phone, see if the Instagram service is down, or try the app on a different device. If you can't add more accounts to follow, you may have reached your Instagram limit and need to unfollow some accounts before you can add more.

Instagram is in the top five social media platforms with over a billion users. The chances of you sharing your photos online with Instagram are high, which is why it's frustrating if Instagram doesn't upload the photos. Here's how to get Instagram back up and running.

What to do if Instagram doesn't work

The best way to fix an Instagram problem is usually the same as to fix any other type of glitch. You solve it one step at a time, usually by trying the simplest or most likely solution first and then moving on to more technical solutions. Here are eight solutions to solve your problem, from the simplest to the most difficult.

Do you follow too many people?

From the very beginning, let's make sure your problem isn't related to the number of followers. If you see an error saying you can't follow other people, it's not a problem with the app, your phone, or cached data — you've reached the maximum number of accounts (7.500) you can follow. If you run into this problem, you need to unfollow some accounts before you can follow new ones.

    1. In the Instagram app, tap your account avatar in the bottom right corner.
    2. At the top right of the screen, tap Follow.
    3. Scroll through the list and unfollow some accounts you no longer need by tapping Follow. You should see the button turn blue and change to Follow.

Try restarting the app (or phone)

If an app seems to be working abnormally on your phone, the first step should always be to reboot the system to delete any corrupted files in the memory or cache.

First try to close Instagram completely, then run Instagram again. If the problem persists, shut down your Android phone or shut down your iPhone and restart it. Then try Instagram again.

    Check if Instagram is inactive

Instagram has a reliable network, which rarely has the kind of network errors you might notice when using the app. Even so, it's an easy thing to check, so there's no reason not to check if restarting the app didn't fix the problem. You can check the status of the Instagram network on DownDetector or simply search for “Instagram down” in a Google search.

Make sure Instagram is up to date

If you haven't updated your apps in a while, Instagram may be misbehaving simply because the app is out of date. It's a good idea to leave automatic updates turned on, but if you need to manually make sure you have the latest version of Instagram installed, you can turn on automatic updates on your iPhone or update apps on your Android phone.

    Try it in a browser

After trying the first troubleshooting steps, it might be a good idea to see if Instagram works in a different environment. You could ask a friend if Instagram works on their devices or just try running Instagram on another device, like in a browser on your desktop computer. If you're already using it in a browser and don't have a different device, you might want to try a different browser, like Firefox instead of Chrome.

    Clear your cache

If Instagram works for other people or you have managed to log into Instagram in a browser but not on your phone, it looks like you may have a problem with your cache - it may have some data corrupted.

If you are using an Android device, you can simply clear the cache. The steps may depend slightly on your phone and the version of Android you are running, but here's the general procedure:

    1. Launch the app Settings.
    2. Toccata App and notification.
    3. Go to the app list (you may need to tap View all apps ) and touch Instagram.
    4. Toccata Memory and cache.
    5. Toccata Clear cache.

If you are using an iPhone, there is no way to clear the cache without uninstalling the app, so do it: uninstall Instagram from your iPhone and reinstall it from the App Store. You will not lose any data, because Instagram stores all your photos and account settings online.

    Make sure you've enabled permissions

Like many apps, Instagram requires permission to use various services and resources on your phone. If you don't grant these permissions, Instagram may not function properly. Check your permissions and enable them to see if this solves your problem. If you have an Android phone, follow these steps:

    1. Launch the app Settings.
    2. Toccata App and notification.
    3. Go to the app list (you may need to tap View all apps ) and touch Instagram.
    4. Toccata Permissions.
    5. One at a time, tap on each permission and choose Only allow while using the app, then use the arrow Go back at the top to return to the previous screen and move to the next authorization.

If you have an iPhone, do this:

    1. Launch the app Settings.
    2. Scroll down to the app list and tap Instagram.
    3. Enable any permissions, such as MicrophoneCameraContact Us e Gallery.

    Report the problem

If you still can't upload Stories to Instagram or it still doesn't work, you can contact the Instagram help center or report the problem you are having.

    1. In the Instagram app, tap your account avatar in the bottom right corner.
    2. Tap the three-line menu in the top right and then tap Settings.
    3. Toccata Help.
    4. Here in the Help Center, you can submit a report about the problem you're having or read Instagram's help and support articles.
