LA Noire, Case 8 - "Murder of the Lipstick"
At the crime scene there are many clues to be collected: first of all, check the body carefully, focusing on the head, on the left hand and on the writings on the body made with lipstick. Continue towards the footprints marked with the letter "C"; examine them and then do the same with the victim's handbag, marked with the letter "A", inside which you will find the lipstick stick. Then continue towards the test marked by the letter "B": it is a small globe made up of 3 revolving sections: reconstruct the map to open it and discover the writing inside, which will show you your next destination.
Then move to Bamba Club (the place indicated by the globe). Enter the room to question Mc Coll (the man with the white jacket sitting on the sofas. The correct answers during the interrogation are:
- Statement 1: TRUE (was seen with the murdered woman)
- Statement 2: DOUBT (knows nothing about the stolen ring)
- Statement 3: DOUBT (there is no information about the victim's husband)
At the end of the query you will get the plaque of Celine Henry's companion and you can continue to the next destination (Henry residence). Once there, as soon as you enter, collect the 13 collectible newspapers on the floor during the game, then continue with the search for clues. In the order of the rooms, you will find: a woman's shoe on the floor in the living room; the signs of forced entry on the kitchen window, where you will also find a post-it note on the refrigerator; in the bedroom, check the box of the ring (to be compared with the clue of the missing link to the victim), placed in front of the mirror near the photo (also check the latter, even if it is not essential for resolving the case ); before you leave, finally, talk to Jennifer Horgan outside the house (the woman will arrive in a blue car) to learn more details. Then continue to Jacob Henry's apartment.
Once in the apartment you have to collect two clues: first of all go to the kitchen and use the pencil on the notepad to find out the message, then check the suitcase in the bedroom to find a shoe. Now go back to Jacob and question him, giving the following answers to his statements:
- Statement 1: FALSE (you have the globe-shaped lighter as proof)
- Statement 2: TRUE
- Claim 3: FALSE (the man actually had a motive for the murder)
At the end of the interrogation you will have to handcuff Jacob by force, after having punched. Once the man is immobilized, go back to check the apartment to find out more details: you will simply have to listen to the messages on the answering machine, then go to the police station and interrogate Jacob again. In this interview the correct answers will be:
- Statement 1: FALSE (you have the wife's alibi as proof)
- Statement 2: TRUE
- Statement 3: FALSE (you know the man had marital problems)
- Statement 4: TRUE
Once this second interrogation is over, you will need to go to Mendez's apartment. From the mailboxes you will find that you have to go to apartment number 16. Once in the room, first of all examine the shoes: do this first, otherwise you will not be able to collect further evidence. Once you have examined the shoes, go to the bedroom to find the bloody box with the used lipstick and the key. At this point you will see Mendez, who will flee: run after him (on foot and then, if you can't stop him first, by car) and catch him to finish the case.
