CD Projekt RED confirmed, after the airing of the third episode of Night City Wire, that the main storyline of cyberpunk 2077 it won't be as long as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The adventures of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have a notoriously long main story campaign, even when compared to other open-world RPGs. This is partly due to the large number of activities and side missions to distract from in the Northern Kingdoms, the setting of the game and partly due to the number of missions that make up the main story. While many fans enjoyed the large amount of content, others never managed to finish the game and complained about its length.
This is why Cyberpunk 2077's main story will be slightly shorter than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's, according to CD Projekt Red's Senior Mission Designer Patrick Mills:
The main story of Cyberpunk 2077 is shorter than that of The Witcher 3 because we have had many complaints for the duration of the latter. Looking at the metrics, there are a lot of people who have gone very far in the game, but never reached the end.
CD Projekt Red further stated that Cyberpunk 2077 is a "much, much deeper" RPG experience than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
