    Comanche: Preview - Gamescom 2019

There are interesting news from the THQ Nordic booth of Gamescom 2019, and they concern Comanche. Yes, that Comanche. The Comanche series started in 1992 with Maximum Overkill and, after a handful of expansions and sequels, ended in 2001 with Comanche 4.

After a period of decline, the series seemed to regain potential after thediplomatic incident between Iran and the United States in 2011, the one that saw the capture and consequent commanded landing of an American drone (RQ-170) by an Iranian cyber-team: these, with healthy reverse-engineering, would then reproduce its characteristics in series, building their own armed personnel.

Following this brutal slip, the US state (in lore of the game) decides to reintroduce the good old Comanches, with a small but essential modification: the helicopter remains a versatile hybrid between offensive capabilities and stealth functionality, but is now equipped with a drone, not hackable, can be piloted from a short distance, useful in the most high-risk environments.

The title is a fully multiplayer team helicopter shooter, without a single player campaign, and we obviously asked its creators why they made this choice.

There are many aspects of the original series that we want to respect, but our priority is to create a product for the players, which adapts as quickly to the needs of the players. A single player title would have incredibly lengthened the evolution times of Comanche, because user feedback would have arrived very late; with a multiplayer game the response is immediate and continuous, a peculiarity that will allow us to always be on the spot with adjustments, improvements and tweaks.

The modality introduced in our hands-off, and the one from which the development team originally started, is called "Infiltration"And sees 2 teams of 4 players groped to infiltrate or defend a server from infiltration: if the approach to the building that contains this objective must be done absolutely with the supplied helicopter, as soon as you arrive you will encounter the need to draw the drone to arrive, corridor after corridor, to the server itself.

This coupled helicopter-drone, at the pre-established and unchangeable moment, paves the way for thousands of strategic combinations, so much so that, according to the developers themselves, this new Comanche is deeply comparable to Rainbow Six Siege in terms of creation and execution of game strategies, but also in gameplay .

In the gameplay video shown, we were able to observe the Wraith and Ghost, the only two classes present so far: the first is strongly stealth, with a system of cloaking which makes it essentially invisible, while losing its effectiveness and attack distance; the second assumes instead the characteristics of a half from a distance, lighter and with greater maneuverability.

Comanche should arrive in Early Access in the first quarter of 2020 with 4 different classes, 3 maps and 2 action modes. and 1 game with 0 bugs, at least so the lead artist of the game hopes, who in fact concluded our hands-off. We'll see if they can win over the public and meet expectations.

► Comanche is an Adventure-Action-Simulation game developed by NUKKLEAR and published by THQ Nordic for PC, the video game was released on 31/03/2020
