Dark Souls II: Boss Guide - Velstadt

The journey into the twisted and sepulchral world of Dark Souls II moves towards the conclusion. This is particularly noticeable when you set out on the trail of King Vendrick, ruler of Drangleic fallen, took refuge in the Crypt of the Undead along with his trusted bodyguard: Velstaldt. The latter is the protagonist of our column today, and we tell you right away that he is one of the most fascinating bosses of the second chapter of the saga created by FromSoftware and distributed by Bandai Namco.

    Strategy and useful tips:

Before starting, know that if you want you can evoke the "Crypt Guardian Agdayne”, A valuable helper. The fight against Velstadt is divided into two phases. The first part of the battle is relatively simple: the boss is slow and easy to dodge. After avoiding an attack, you can hit it in relative safety. Also, if you move away from him it will take a few seconds to reach you, so you can heal or attack him from a distance without too much trouble.

It is not recommended to parry his blows, as with the combos it would take away all your stamina. Once he reaches 50% of his life total, the real fight begins. Now Velstadt is much more resilient and aggressive than before. Also, when he has the dark aura around him, he will use the dark spheres, which cause massive damage. Always dodge his attacks by rolling, try to get around him and attack him trying to keep up with him. Don't turn away when you know that he can use the dark spheres because they are very harmful. If he uses them, try to dodge them effectively.

    Attacks:

    • Charge and lunge: the boss delivers a vertical blow in front of him after a leap back; roll to avoid it
    • Sweep: Velstadt makes a horizontal sweep or two with the club, hitting a large area in front of him
    • Run up and slash: the boss, if you were far from him, could run after you, lifting the hammer-bell on his head; avoid it by rolling sideways
    • Lunge Sweep: after making two sweeps, Velstadt executes a lunge with a very long range
    • Back Sweep and Slash: if you were behind him, the boss performed a slash behind him and then a vertical blow with his powerful club
    • Dark Spheres: when it has the dark aura around it and you are far from it, it creates a series of dark spheres, capable of hitting you even at a long distance

    • Soul of Velstadt
    • 37500 cores / 100000 NG +
    • Ring of the Kingsguard +2

Dark Souls II: Boss Guide - VelstadtLore:

Velstaldt, along with his trusted friend Raime, was one of Vendrick's elite guards and one of the strongest knights in the whole kingdom. Velstaldt has always been close to his king, protecting him and following him even to the end of the world, even at the cost of turning his back on his trusted friend, Raime, accused of treason and for this reason removed from the castle of Drangleic.

The bond between Velstaldt and his ruler was so strong that the knight decided to follow him in his exile, in the Crypt of the Undead and, despite the emptiness that arose, he continued to defend him relentlessly, testifying to a bond as solid as, ultimately, deleterious.

A beautiful story that, as usual, makes the imagery coined by the software house, starting from the progenitor, Demon's Souls, even more magnificent.
