In recent days, the piece of the former signature of Kotaku has in fact caused a lot of discussion among gamers. The main thesis concerns the preference of the Japanese giant for triple A, to the detriment of smaller productions. This selection would have led to also discarding the draft of the sequel to Days Gone and fans have asked the authors for clarification. Asked by the latter on Twitter, Ross thanked them, stating: “I can't confirm or deny anything, so please don't look for a hidden meaning in my 'likes' your comments. If I like a tweet it just means that I have seen it and that I appreciate its content, nothing else! I love you!".

Thanks to everyone who attended the podcast with Jaffe. I wish I could have been more forthright with some questions. Just remember @jasonschreier is a journalist who takes his craft seriously. And he has the luxury of being able to be more honest than I'm allowed. https://t.co/MCbvItFwvs

The veil of uncertainty that surrounds the Days Gone 2 issue seems to have thinned later, when the developer himself was the guest of a live stream conducted by the creator of God of War, David Jaffe. Regarding the alleged cancellation of the title, the game director has not been too exposed, stating: "Never say never about anything, it's just ... Maybe not now". In a following tweet, however, he deepened his speech by saying that “I would have liked to answer some questions more directly. Just remember that Jason Schreier is a journalist who takes his work very seriously. And he has the luxury of being more honest than what is allowed to me ”. Jeff Ross was referring to a message in which Schreier states that "Days Gone 2 was rejected in 2019 and is not in production".
