Death Stranding - Tips for balancing the load

In Death Stranding, yet another effort by Hideo Kojima, we play Sam Porter Bridges, the courier in charge of transporting numerous objects to different regions of the world. Not always having vehicles available, it will happen that we take long walks, especially on rough terrain, where balance is a fundamental element.

A factor not to be underestimated especially if we carry over 60 kg of objects: Sam will be stressed, bent and will begin to skid to the right or left. To avoid dropping it and therefore losing objects or damaging the load, we will have to correct its movements.

Death Stranding - Tips for balancing the load

First of all, make sure you do not overdo the transport of the goods. Always keep an eye on your inventory and try not to collect all the stray loads you will encounter during exploration, even though they are palatable. Especially in the early stages, when you have not yet been able to familiarize yourself with the game mechanics. So avoid putting a strain on the resistance of poor Bridges.

How to balance the weight of Sam's load

The following guide contains some tips that will help you improve stability:

  • Always balance inventory. You can do this using the Triangle button.
  • While running, try to stay in a straight line and avoid sharp turns.
    • In case Sam swings left, balance him by pressing R2.
    • Conversely, use L2.
  • To keep your weight steady, try walking while holding R2 + L2. Unfortunately your speed will be reduced, but you will not have to constantly rebalance the courier. Use this combination especially when climbing and steeper descents.
  • Upgrade your with The Engineer to upgrade your exoskeleton. This way you can carry more and more weight with you (up to 300 kg) and better maintain stability when Sam is carrying excessive weights.
    • However try to always keep the weight below 60 kg, in this way Sam will avoid staggering and you can run freely to your destination.

As the game progresses, you will unlock vehicles that make exploration less complicated. However, immediately familiarize yourself with the gameplay of Death Stranding, because many times you will happen to remain on foot.
