Choose well, in the beginning
At the beginning of the adventure you will find yourself creating your character and choosing his starting class: while these usually have predefined stats and skills, in Demon's Souls they are more like starting points, so a player who starts as a humble barbarian by the end of the game he is confidently able to become a well-rounded wizard.
That said, starting with a Knight, Soldier, or Templar Knight is definitely recommended for anyone who isn't very familiar with the game or series. Get to know the Nexus
After your first inevitable death, you will find yourself in the Nexus. This acts as the main hub and the only true “safe haven” of Demon's Souls, a location where you will meet the merchants, the main NPCs and some important allies. In the Nexus, you can upgrade equipment and manage inventory.
Essential here is the Maiden, which will help players level up using collected souls; be careful, however, who you "invite" to the Nexus, as a somewhat suspicious character could set in motion rather catastrophic events within it.
Don't be afraid to explore
In this Demon's Souls differs with Dark Souls, replacing the interconnected levels of the second with about five worlds in their own right but all connected to the Nexus, from which you can return through the Stone Arches. After defeating the boss in the Boletaria Palace area you will be able to access each of the 5 Arches, giving you the freedom to explore.
The key message is: the game does not require you to complete an Arc in a single run, because being able to kill the boss of the given area simply wants to be the input to go and explore elsewhere, as the enemies climb quite violently after the elimination of the boss.
Take only what you need
Managing your inventory is just as important as dodging enemy attacks and avoiding traps. Talk to Thomas in the Nexus to access the storages, where you can drop the items you have collected but which you don't strictly need. The essential improvement to this Demon's Souls is the addition of the ability to ship items to these depots right away, without having to go back to Thomas.
Understand the Tendency of the World
One of the most complex features of the world of Demon's Souls is the one related to Tendency, that is the alignment of the world, towards white or towards black. To modify this "parameter" are many elements, starting from the killing of key characters or bosses, up to the number of your deaths: exploring a dungeon with a world tending to black will increase the wickedness of the enemies you will find there and of the Black Phantoms that they will invade you, but they will also increase the drop.
Fortunately, the remake makes the understanding of this system a little clearer, so make the most of this feature, since, in some cases, forcibly aligning a world towards black could open a way ... towards a hitherto hidden clash.
