The third chapter of the saga seems to have also raised it.
During the interview with Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive, For GamesIndustry, basically talked about Hitman 3 and the success of this chapter of the reboot trilogy. Abrak also outlined future plans for both the Hitman franchise and the company.
The CEO of IO Interactive was not specific in the details, but it would seem that Hitman 3 has sold 300% more than its previous chapter. This third reboot title is the first released by the game development company itself. HITMAN, the first chapter of 2016, was published by Square Enix, who was not thrilled by the sales and then passed the ball to Warner Bros. Entertainment to HITMAN 2, eventually leading to self-publishing with Hitman 3.
The one achieved by the development team is therefore a great achievement and a victory for the reboot of the famous Agent 47 saga, which will now take a momentary pause in favor of new ideas that the developers of IO Interactive are already working on.
There is something that is already on the move, and it is very likely that IO will release not only our games, but other people's titles as well in the future. Just a handful of years ago this was unthinkable, at a time when there were few big publishers. Things are changing now. Everything still works. I think big publishers have a role to play in the future. I will be open and let's say that it is very likely that one of our games will be published by someone else. It is very likely.
Also the CEO of IO Interactive, Hakan Abrak, also added the following words regarding the future goals of the company:
We have a very modest goal, we want to be the most desirable game developer in Europe by 2024. It could be a very high goal to aim for, but we have been through fire and brimstone, getting stronger and stronger with that thought. I believe we have the will, the culture, the people and the drive to do it.
