    Indivisible: Tested - Gamescom 2019

Indivisible starts from afar, from an indie project raised on bread and crowdfunding. Four years after the release of the first news about the alienating role-playing platform production of Lab Zero Games, at Gamescom in Cologne we had the opportunity to test an almost definitive version of the game's code.

Out next October 11 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a release date for Nintendo Switch still being defined, the work distributed by 505 Games seems to promise very well indeed, allowing itself the luxury of becoming a potential sleeper hit for this end of 2019.

During the hands on held behind closed doors, we were able to see how the exquisite combat system that characterizes this digital creature really represents the added value of a binary creature, however, full of tension and challenge, above all thanks to the DNA that characterizes it, overwhelmingly platformistic .

Although not particularly dissimilar in combat mechanics from any Valkyrie Profile, what Lab Zero Games hatches manages to be classic but at the same time refreshing for a genre, that of action RPGs, which often offers rather basic and stagnant playful mechanics.

Despite its simplicity, in Indivisible it is a pleasure to beat, including combos, super moves, parrying and so on. In general, the battle system based on the simultaneous use of four fighters in real time allows you to adopt many distinct combinations, just to get to the complete dethronement of the enemy scum.

During our test, which kept us busy during a playful session lasting about an hour, we found, however, how the gross difficulty of Indivisible presented some imbalance. The fights, above all, seemed to us in a bit too easy, while the platform sessions were characterized by tremendously merciless upward peaks. Sometimes, in fact, it is enough to make the slightest mistake in setting up the jump and blow up every dream of glory. Fortunately, a well-structured checkpoint system helps to mitigate the sense of frustration.

Although it is impossible to issue a judgment that can be considered definitive, it is important to underline that, being a demo prepared ad hoc for the event, what has been tested may not be indicative of what the final product will be.

In order to deepen and dispel our doubts, the playful segment object of this preview will be available, according to the developers, after about ten hours of play, so it is more than likely that part of these fluctuations in difficulty may depend on the lack of practicality in dealing with sequelae of particularly complex jumps, during which a lot of coordination and a correct use of all the special moves available to our heroine are required. As if to say, experience makes masters.

A point that certainly goes in favor of the 505 Games title is the high number of alternative paths available, paths heralds of precious collectibles to be collected and used as a function of a perceptible improvement of one's party.

It was also possible to test interesting skills that are necessary to cross the intricate labyrinths proposed by Indivisible, such as the ability to bounce using your spear on surfaces otherwise impossible to exploit, as well as the ability of the protagonist to shoot arrows characterized by the fact to be able to make otherwise inaccessible holds exploitable by means of wall jump.
