Nothing seems to be able to scratch the excessive power of Fortnite, not even the overwhelming success of that Animal Crossing: New Horizons which for many was a source of escape during the confinement of the quarantine.
In addition to other third-party holy monsters such as FIFA 20, Minecraft and Rocket League, the other games in the ranking are practically all Nintendo exclusives. This somewhat peculiar element is a clear indication of Switch's current situation on the market. The console is now obsolete at the hardware level, so much so as to force almost all third-party software houses to be unable to port to Switch despite the huge installed base of the console. The other side of the coin is instead a very clear indication of how much the quality of its exclusives allows Nintendo not to respond to the usual market laws..
If on all other platforms the largest revenue is generated during the first weeks of marketing, Nintendo exclusives, on the other hand, continue to sell and be very popular even after years, although the sale price is not subject to any cut (except for occasional limited-time offers).
In short, Nintendo reconfirms itself as an almost monopolist in the corner that has managed to carve out itself in the market and in the hearts of fans.
However, the immediate future of the Kyoto house appears rather uncertain due to the shortage of upcoming titles and the limited hardware capabilities of the Switch.
