Philips announces the new 558M1RY and 278M1R monitors

    MMD, a leading display manufacturer and licensing partner of Philips branded monitors, announces two new Momentum monitors, one of which includes a collaboration with Bowers & Wilkins. The first is the 558M1RY which with its 55 inches (139,7 cm) is the largest monitor for the gaming console on the market, the second is the 278M1R, a 27-inch (68,6 cm) monitor designed specifically for the 'esports. The 558M1RY It will bring a whole new dimension to gaming, with UHD 4K resolution, a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, a specially designed speaker from Bowers & Wilkins and Ambiglow that extends all around the screen. The 278M1R is the first Philips monitor designed with exclusively esports gamers in mind, the diagonal measures 27 inches and is HDR Ready.



    The 55 "will be available from the end of June 2020 and the 27" from July 2020.

    The 558M1RY is truly an all-in-one solution for immersive gaming and entertainment. Gamers will be completely absorbed in their games with a 55-inch screen and 3-sided Ambiglow. The monitor impresses with its UHD UltraClear 4K resolution, with 3840x2160 pixels and DisplayHDR 1000. Users can adjust the HDR to their preferences with HDR Game, HDR Movie, HDR Photo modes and a customizable HDR - the HDR can also be completely turned off.

    With a 4000: 1 static contrast ratio, games, TV shows and movies will be displayed beautifully with deep blacks and stunning colors. Low input lag means receiving visual feedback with minimal latency, smooth images and reduced motion blur thanks to the refresh rate of 60/120 Hz (depending on the port used) and AMD FreeSync.

    The 55 ”also features a loudspeaker designed by Bowers & Wilkins, a British loudspeaker company world renowned for their innovative designs and sound engineering. The soundbar is built into the monitor, meaning users can plug in and instantly play. The bar has an output power of 40W total, 2.1 Channel Sound System, DTS Sound and a frequency response from 50Hz to 20kHz. In addition, it also allows various sound modes designed especially for gamers such as Sport & Racing, RPG & Adventure, Action, as well as Movie, Music and Personal modes.


    Immersive Ambiglow technology creates soft light around the monitor, further enlarging the screen and allowing users to truly immerse themselves in the game. Its technology processes the incoming content and projects the corresponding light around the monitor. On the 558M1RY, the Ambiglow is positioned on 3 sides to offer users even more immersion.
