Pokémon Sword and Shield - Obtain Meltan and Melmetal

Pokémon Sword and Shield - Obtain Meltan and Melmetal

Announced in September 2018, the mysterious Pokémon Meltan and its evolution Melmetal were initially only available on the Pokémon GO smartphone application. How can you do to get these two Pokémon even in the latest versions Sword and Shield - of which you can find our review here - for Nintendo Switch?

To get Meltan and Melmetal you will have to use the new Pokémon Home app, downloadable on your Nintendo Switch via eShop. First, however, you will need to catch the Pokémon in Pokémon GO and have a copy of Let's Go Pikachu or Eevee available.

    How to get Meltan

The easiest way to get Meltan is to transfer any Pokémon from GO to Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, or transfer a Pokémon to a friend's game copy (also Let's Go Pikachu or Eevee).

Once this is done, you will get a surprise package which, once opened, will allow Meltan to start appearing in Pokémon GO for about 30 minutes. It will be important to try to capture as many of them as possible within this time frame, since the candies obtained will allow us in the future to make Metan evolve into Melmetal.

Captured the creature in Pokémon GO, it will need to be transferred to Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu or Let's Go Eevee, then taking advantage of Pokémon Home, which will allow you to pass Meltan in the pits and then in Pokémon Sword and Shield.

    How to get Melmetal

Unfortunately it is not possible to evolve Melmetal directly in the game, but it can be carried over once it has already evolved into Pokémon GO. In order for Meltan to evolve into Melmetal it will be necessary to give him 400 Meltan candies. Once this is done, you can repeat the procedure described above for its basic stage, using that is Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu or Eevee and Pokémon Home and its boxes, through which it is possible to transfer pokémon in Sword and Shield.
